Foreign-born Latinos were hit the hardest by job losses in the first year of the recession, according to a study released by Pew Hispanic Thursday.

Unemployment for Latino immigrants – both legal and illegal — rose 3 percentage points in 2008; it rose 2 percentage points for the general population during the same time period.

Unemployment rose to 8 percent from 5.1 percent for Latino immigrants last year; it rose to 6.6 percent for the rest of the labor market.
